Dr. David Finken

David Finken is a postdoctoral research fellow at ETH Zurich (Chair of Technology Marketing). He conducts interdisciplinary research and theoretically borrows from (social) psychology and organizational behavior with the goal of providing valuable insights for marketers and societal decision-makers.

His primary area of research investigates psychological responses to mixed reality (spatial computing) applications such as augmented and virtual reality. Specifically, he strives to identify the situations in which mixed reality applications have positive or adverse outcomes and the reasons behind them.

In addition to his work on mixed realities, David Finken has a second stream of research that broadly relates to digital goods and AI-based entities. His research in this area reveals when and why digital goods capture value differently from physical goods. He emphasizes the necessity of studying human-to-human relations in a world evolving with AI.
